Dan joined the firm in 2022 as a partner. He assists businesses in protecting, enforcing, and otherwise leveraging their intellectual property assets. Dan has counseled clients ranging from small entrepreneurs to the world’s largest companies in how to best manage, grow, and protect their IP portfolios.
Dan has substantial experience in trademark portfolio management, searching, prosecution, and maintenance, and has handled numerous trademark related disputes on behalf of a variety of clients, including both opposition and cancellation proceedings with the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). He has also has successfully enforced his client’s trademark rights through a variety of other methods, including cease and desist letters, litigation, and negotiating coexistence agreements.
Dan also handles all types of international trademark issues and has done so for a number of Fortune 500 companies. In doing so, he has managed large trademark portfolios that extend to numerous jurisdictions, including China, India, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, and elsewhere. Dan’s working knowledge of international trademark laws allows him to provide cost effective representation wherever an issue arises.
Dan’s experience also extends to other areas of IP law, including trademark and copyright licensing, technology transactions, M&A due diligence, and trade secrets issues. He also handles sweepstakes and contest law and advertising reviews. In addition to these areas of practice, Dan also counsels clients in the cannabis industry on how to obtain trademark protection as cannabis laws evolve.
