Jeffery M.
Heftman joined the firm in 2009 after practicing for seven years
at Vedder Price, P.C. Jeff focuses his practice on complex commercial
litigation, including contract disputes, misappropriation of confidential
information and trade secrets, and other business tort matters
in both state and federal court, and at the trial and appellate
levels. Jeff has experience representing financial institutions
against individual and consumer class actions involving claims
under the Truth in Lending Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures
Act and various state consumer protection statutes. Jeff has successfully
defended and prosecuted claims for securities violations, fraudulent
misrepresentation, and has extensive experience concerning franchise
and distributorship disputes. Jeff has also litigated numerous
intellectual property matters, including alleged trade secrets
misappropriation, antitrust and trade regulation, and trademark
and trade dress infringement, and has defended and prosecuted
cases involving the enforcement of employee restrictive covenants
at all trial and appellate levels.
In addition to his practice before state and federal courts, Jeff
has also appeared in arbitrations before the American Arbitration
Association and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
Jeff was selected
in 2011 as one of Illinois Rising Stars for
civil litigation defense based on a peer survey conducted by Super
Lawyers publication (representing top 2.5% of all Illinois
lawyers 40 and under).
